In this week’s module we learned about blended learning and the different methods to use in a classroom to incorporate blended learning. Blended Learning is a mixture of face to face and online lessons or activities in a classroom. The basic fundamentals of the blended learning has various modules with technology, group and teacher interactions. With Blended Learning it allows teachers to focus on specialized learning plan for each student, and tailor lectures to focus on what each student’s needs.
There are many different types of strategies to use in a Blended Learning:
Lab Rotation
Class Rotation
Class Rotation
Flex
Pod
Outside in Model
Inside Out Model
Supplemental
Lab Rotation
Station Rotation
Individual Rotation
Self-Directed
Project Based
Remote
Flipped
With all of these styles it allows us as teachers to take a pedagogical approach to implement the best practices and apply the best technology to help create a positive difference. I like the Class Rotation the best, it allows the class to be broken down into several groups. Such as 1 group with the teacher 2 groups on the computer and 1 group participating in a guided practice. This will allow for higher engagement, and retention rates among students. It also can provide them with interaction with their classmates to help them peer tutor other students and learn the topic.
I thought the group today to a nice job presenting the topic today. The activities were very fun and a creative way to determine how we retained and absorbed the information. I’m looking forward to the next group to cover the module in week 12.
