Learning Spaces are defined as different areas that learning can happen in with many different types and forms that can changed based on your users’ needs. As teachers, space is either a valuable tool or a harmful weapon. These were some of the concepts we started learning about in the Digital Learning Space module in Week 8.

Ashley and Aleksy introduced some new cool tools that I had never used or heard of before such as Padlet, and Flicker. I liked Padlet I thought that was a nice tool that allowed the entire class to participate at their own speed. It also allowed the students in class to participate anonymously. This would be a great tool to use in a class room to help shield students form embarrassment for submitting wrong answers.

I thought it was an interesting take when they said Education is set up like an industrial assembly line with the most important thing we teach students is their manufacturing date. I’ve never heard an analogy like this before but it is crazy how accurate it is. The way current curriculum and schools are set up are only focused on moving kids along based on what they are supposed to know at a certain time in the “manufacturing process”. Instead of letting students move through the educational system at their own pace.

The one point that Ashley and Aleksy did mention that will stick with me is that “No one is an Expert” with the world constantly changing and new things coming out every second the best thing any of us can do is understand what we don’t know. That being said we should strive to be the best we can be but also understand you can learn something from anyone you come in contact with.
