This week in class we learned about Teacher Productivity from Katrina, Brady, and Sam. They taught us the definition of Teacher Productivity and it is defined as the contribution a teacher makes to student learning, rather than the absolute level of student learning achieved.

They also talked about how teachers need to be lifelong learners and adapt to the change in technology. These go hand in hand as by learning new technology teachers will gain additional information on technology that should make their jobs easier. For example if teachers learn how to use Schoology this will be the equivalent to an electronic grade book or Google class room.

Schoology was a cool tool that the group taught us about that Katrina uses at her school. By using Schoology it allows the teachers to create online access to classes and work for students. You could also use it in the event you had a substitute teacher to make it easier on your sub to just supervise the students and not have to teach a lesson they may not be equipped to.

Another tool they taught us about was called Free Rice. This tool I particularly liked not only would it teach the students vocabulary words related to the different content areas and also donates to a good cause. This tool donates 10 grains of rice for every correct answer, this would be a great way for kids to give back to the less fortunate.

Katrina, Brady and Sam did a great job teaching this module and I look forward to see the next group teach a new module.
